At Disney’s D23 Expo, Marvel announced Black Panther 2, one of the upcoming MCU Phase 5 movies, which is a sequel to the 2018 film. In addition to the excitement, Marvel President Marvel Feige even announced the release date May 6, 2022. Ryan Coogler is returning to direct the movie.
We previously knew that Thor: Love and Thunder is the last film in the Marvel Phase 4 movie lineup announced yet. The film is set to be released on November 5, 2021. So, there might be another Marvel film to be released in between these two movies.
Marvel also announced three MCU movie release dates, including February 8th, 2022, May 6th, 2022, and July 29th, 2022, that had no title attached at the San-Diego Comic-Con.
Marvel confirmed there are plans for sequels: Captain Marvel, Black Panther, and Guardians of the Galaxy in the following Comic-Con. In conclusion, we might see Captain Marvel or Guardians of the Galaxy sequels on-screen before Black Panther 2.
Expectations will be high since the Black Panther original film made the highest-grossing solo superhero movie of all time worldwide. The movie won three awards: Best Costume Design, Best Original Score, and Best Production Design at the 91st Academy awards among its seven nominations. Also, Black Panther is the first superhero movie to be nominated for Best Picture. Moreover, it is the first MCU movie to won Oscar awards.
